Music & Worship

At Woodlawn Baptist Church we strive to maintain a vibrant, Christ centered, music program.  We believe that worship is not a performance for an earthly audience, nor is it a passive experience but rather an offering to God from our hearts. We also recognize that music is as diverse as our congregation and strive to not focus on any one particular style. Instead we focus on the text of the songs that we are to sing in worship.  We sing everything from hymns written by Martin Luther to contemporary songs by Chris Tomlin. The music program is under the direction of our Associate Pastor/Minister of Music Bro. Ryan Marshall.

The primary ensemble is the Chancel Choir of Woodlawn Baptist Church.  This volunteer group of adults rehearses once a week and assists leading in worship on Sunday morning. The choir sings an anthem most Sunday mornings as well.  The Chancel Choir typically presents a cantata at Easter and at Christmas.  The choir is open to all who wish to participate.  Any one interested in joining may contact Bro. Ryan.

A mainstay of the music program is the Children's Choir.  The group of young people present programs and special music throughout the school year.  This group is an active and fun way for your children to be involved in the music program.  The children's choir is volunteer led by Mrs. Joan Farish.

This fall will also see the return of the Handbell Choir to Woodlawn Baptist church.  This group is open to all who wish to participate, and no prior experience is required.  The Handbell Choir will be under the direction of Bro. Ryan.
